Class Notes, Take 2.

Regarding English 110, here's what we accomplished during the 11am class; I hope to replicate it for the 1pm section:

  • Check-In with questions, concerns, or a happy story.
  • Tour of Blackboard: syllabus, collaborate, textbook, blog, and self-assessment quizzes. I forgot to show them how to upload something! I'll do that Wednesday.
  • A brief lecture on Content and Structure.
  • Then we had time to complete the Syllabus Quiz.
  • Wednesday's class will consist of Story #1 & Scenario #4, a tutorial on uploading things to Blackboard, an intro to Large Project #1, and time for completing the Writing Sample.

Ungrading Nugget #1.  #Ungrading, for me, is a theory. The practice looks very different for each teacher, whether they are teaching k-12 or at a university. {The practice is a privilege for some, as I acknowledge that as a full-timer, I'm allotted more freedom than a part-time teacher.} The practice looks very different depending on discipline, too. I signed up for a three-part webinar series, pre-Spring semester, on the topic of Intentionally Equitable Hospitality .* Here are my random thoughts and connections, via a list that some might understand and some might not.
